Honey Died

Honey died in my arms tonight.

I came home from visiting my Grandma and I took Honey out of her cage.
She had a seizure.
I had to hold her down and then she died.

I will miss her, more then I can even explain.

She was my snuggler and she loved to be held.

She especially loved to wrap her neck around mine and snuggle into my hair.

I buried her in the garden, wrapped in my favorite green scrubs, and tomorrow I'll plant some hen and chicks on her grave.

The last pics I took of Honey on Tuesday.

  1. It's always horrible to lose your favorite chicken. I had the friendliest little banty rooster and he got sick pretty much the exact same way your honey did. He just all the sudden became really lethargic and wouldn't walk around. I also had posted a few bulletins on BYC but no one was able help. One morning we were going to get him medicine and I went to check on him in the coop since he hadn't made it out and right as I opened the door he started twitching and died. We have lost a lot of chickens to predators and various illnesses but the rooster really got to me. It's really hard when you watch it happen. I am very sorry for your loss.

  2. Thanks - I agree it wouldn't have been as bad if I hadn't had to watch her (and hold her). Sorry about your rooster too. :(

Oh, and thanks for entering the giveaway!
