Nap Time

I think this pic is sooooo cute! The expression on the little white one's face - "Ugg! More pictures? Some of us are trying to sleep."

I'm thinking about naming the little white one Pixie. The black one Pepper. And the lighter brown one Ginger. Still need a name for the darker brown one.......

Raisin Race

I gave Lavender a raisin today, thinking she would gobble it down like she always does, but like a good mother she shared it with her chicks.
Unfortunately, they haven't learned about sharing yet. They chased each other around for about 20 mins. until one of the buff colored chicks ate the raisin.
It was hilarious! Like chick football.

They were tired after all that running around.

I'm thinking of naming the tiny yellow chick - Pixie.

Back To You

Most chick pics turn out this way -

Am I that scary? Boo hoo. :(

One Week Pics

I didn't have enough light, so I took the chicks (one at a time) into another room, Lavender jumped out of the brooder and chased me!
Catty (the cat) got in the way and Lavender chased her down the hallway and into the bedroom!
She didn't try to hurt me, even though I was holding her chick. :)

If you have any chick name suggestions - post them please! I need some help.

Look at the camera! - No! You can't make me!

Can't catch me! I'm the fastest chick in the world!

What's up? And who are you?

Hide!

Can you see the two cute chicks?
A black one and a white one?

Now you see it.....

Zip! Now you don't!

Hello! What'cha look'in at?

Mommy! Mommy! Look at me!

Green Plate Special

I took some more pics of the chickies........

The little white one is about half the size of the others. Tiny little sweetie!

Scritch Scratch

These pics were taken on Sunday.
Lavender is teaching the chicks to scratch for food.

I like this pic it looks like they are all lined up taking turns.
"Ok, now your turn." "Good effort. Remember bend with your knees"

"Now, here you want to use the two/one scratch.
Two scratches with the left foot. One with the right. Repeat."

The little white one (on the right) is so much smaller than her sisters.
I hope she catches up to them.
It almost seems as if she needed a
little more time to cook, she hatched too soon,
because she's always the
first to cuddle underneath Lavender.
I helped her to hatch.

Aren't their little toes cute!

Baby Pics

These pics are all from Sat.

Lavender was still sitting on the #4 egg.

She abandoned it Sat. afternoon.

The other chicks were too active and

she wanted to show them what to eat, ect.

To do mommy hen stuff!

I opened the #4 egg.

The baby was fully developed,

but it had died without pipping.

First Day of Spring

What a perfect first day of Spring.

There are 4 chicks now.

One egg, egg#4, hasn't pipped yet.

I tried to candle it, but

I couldn't really tell what I was looking at.

Hopefully, it hatches!

It looks like there are 2 buffs, a black and a white.

Although, Lavender keeps them

tucked underneath her wings, so I

haven't been able to see them all at once.

EDITED TO ADD: New hatched pics of the chicks!

This little white one I helped hatch.

My mom likes the black one the best.

The twins (sort of).
